The David and Bathsheba story is about a man, Samson, and his love for a woman named Delilah. It was told in the book of Judges and then adapted into a film in 1949. Delilah is the judge's niece whose beauty makes men go mad with desire so she can call her own benefit. In this movie, Delilah continues to have men fall helplessly in love with her while never paying them any respect whatsoever. When Samson finds out why she has been doing this to him for so long, he is enraged that he has been used by her all these years without knowing anything about who she really was or what she had done to him which created such strong feelings towards her. Samson is a Nazarite, which means he had to be pure throughout his life. He was the worldwide strongest man who could carry more than 1,000 times his body weight for many years of his long lifespan. He also had hair on his head that would grow back immediately after it had been cut off, but through Delilah's deceit, she pried it out of him with some deceitful words. His hair was the source of his strength and by taking it away, any enemies that Samson may have had were able to capture him and send him into slavery among the Philistines. The Philistines are enemies of the Israelites, so Samson is sent to the Philistines to become their slave. He was put into prison among the most hardened criminals, which means he is now separated from his people for good. With his strength completely gone, Samson is enslaved by the Philistines for many years, but still has the ability to see things with his eyes. Delilah went back to her judge uncle and told him everything that had happened about how they were able to capture Samson and send him away among the Philistines. The plan was to get Delilah's freedom from her uncle who had been holding onto her like some sort of slave. The uncle would be able to use Delilah in his power over the Israelites. The Israelites are people who still believe in God, which means all of them are still fighting for God's favor that is being tested through the lives of these people. The judge knew that Samson was once a powerful religious leader among the Israelites, so when Delilah told him everything she had done to Samson, he no longer possessed any control over him and suddenly fell very mad at her for what she had done. The judge then has Delilah taken out into the yard and gives it up to Samson himself to do with as he pleases. Samson then goes out of the prison and looks at all of the Philistine people that were outside, which caused him to go into a blind rage. He pushed the gate open and takes down all of the men who were guarding him. After he had done this, he started dancing throughout their whole town with everything they owned. Samson had not only taken down his enemies, but also all of their possessions as well. When Samson returned back inside to where Delilah was, she begged him to tell her the source of his strength so she could give some sense into her uncle that would be able to stop her from dying. eccc085e13
